THE MAN OF 3-D is about Jacobus Ferwerda s experiences as a pioneer of stereo photography, despite the difficulties in war-torn Europe, and his ingenuity in constructing cameras, projectors and mounting devices for a variety of stereo applications.
Born in Rotterdam in 1910, he became interested in stereo photography at the age of ten. Follow Koo Ferwerda s experiences with stereo projection, read about his large base pictures as well as his close-up macro images and his involvement with the Dutch 3D Club. Many illustrations follow his life s story.
The images on the 3 reels range from a breathtaking vista of Paris from the Eiffel Tower taken in 1935 to a close-up of an Alpine Anemone showing depth from a few inches to infinity. Also images of the Delta Works (sand dam in Holland), macros of pine needles & dragon-fly, Kayaks in Greenland, Morrocan market and many more.
The album contains 30 pages of text with slots in the back for the 3 reel storage. Each image has a detailed description.
J.G. Ferwerda is one of the most important post-war stereo photographers. With his instructive publications and the many lectures with splendid stereo slides he gave, he has been a source of inspiration for many people around the world.
